Berchtesgaden and Königssee

On Friday, S, R, and I drove down to Berchtesgaden, making the occasion side trip into Austria along the way.  Actually, I would probably be more appropriate to say that S drove, R navigated and I slept.  No the German and Austrian countrysides are not boring - I just have a strong tendancy to fall asleep on long car rides.

The Nazi's had a strong presence and one of the more well known sights in the area is the Kehlsteinhaus, AKA, the Eagle's Nest.  Unfortunately it won't be open again until mid-May, so we did not get to see that.

Alpine sports are apparently pretty popular in the area - we saw what looked like a ski jump as well as as sign for Felix Loch who won the men's singles gold medal in luge in Vancouver.

Seeing as we were there on Good Friday, we saw lots of people on there way to church in traditional outfits.  Who doesn't love a man in lederhose?

The mountain peaks in the area were amazing, particularly thos of Watmzo, the third highest peak in Germany:

Not surprising, there was a very pretty church:

Koenigliches Schloss was also very cool:

I also decided that this fountain must be mine seeing as it has my initial on it:
